Thomas M. Russo has 25 years experience as a trial lawyer. He has tried over 150 criminal matters to verdict in the Superior Courts including eight murder cases and numerous other serious charges such as kidnapping, carjacking, armed robbery, sexual assault, weapons and drug charges. He is aggressive and proactive in fighting illegal searches, illegal arrests, excessive charges, entrapment and lying witnesses.

The firm remains updated on all developments in the fields of criminal law and traffic offenses including Driving while Intoxicated. Thomas M. Russo is Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Criminal Trial Attorney. Certified Criminal Trial Attorney is a designation granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court to attorneys who are able to demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in criminal practice. A certified attorney is more than just an attorney who specializes in a particular area of the law. A New Jersey lawyer who is certified by the Supreme Court as a criminal trial attorney must have:

  • been a member in good standing of the New Jersey bar for over five years
  • demonstrated a substantial level of experience in criminal trial law
  • fulfilled ongoing continuing legal education requirements
  • been favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with his or her work
  • taken and passed a written examination in criminal trial law
  • There are fewer than 200 New Jersey lawyers in private practice who are Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as Criminal Trial Attorneys. That is only about 1 out of every 400 lawyers licensed to practice in the state.
